Professor Ifeoma Ulasi holds an MBBS from the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria; a Post Graduate Diploma in Sociology for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; an M.Sc. in Clinical Research from the University of Liverpool, UK; a Cert. M.Sc. in Clinical Research from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and a Post Graduate Certificate in Renal Transportation from the University of Liverpool, UK.
Prior to her present positions, she was a Professor and Consultant Physician/Nephrologist at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, and a Professor at the College of Medicine, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital.
She has worked for well over 25 years as a physician and nephrologist, having also had previous stints at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital and the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria. She is one of the pioneers of nephrology practice in southeast Nigeria, contributing to three tertiary centres: University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital.
She is currently the President of the Nigerian Association of Nephrology, and a member of several associations such as the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria, the International Society of Hypertension, and the International Society of Nephrology.
She has authored or co-authorised over seventy publications and is involved in several collaborations such as the Nigeria Bone and Mineral Disease (BMD) Study Group, the Consolidated data on Cardio-metabolic Risk Screening in Nigeria Study group (CoCSiN), the Neurology Research Group, the Health Heredity and Environment Research Group and Hypertension Studies (Clinical trials and Genetics of hypertension). She has also guided over fifteen resident doctors through their dissertation for their Fellowship in both the West African College of Physicians and the Nigerian Post-graduate Medical College.
